His Eminence Metropolitan Alexios will be traveling to each of our Metropolis Conferences during the month of March to meet with clergy, parish leaders, and parishioners. He and His Metropolis co-workers will share updates on our Metropolis ministries, including our Strategic Plan. Those present will be invited to engage in dialogue following presentations, ask questions, and exchange updates and resources to support our parishes and Metropolis ministries.

On Friday, the Orthodox Church observed Epiphany. The Metropolis of Atlanta’s St. Nicholas Cathedral commemorated the occasion with the 111th annual celebration.

Last week teens from 25 communities, their priests, chaperones and athletic coaches came together for a week full of friendly competition, worship and fun.

As the months go by the Panagia Chapel continues to come together. The full shell of the building is almost complete.

Last week the Metropolis of Atlanta clergy gathered at the Diakonia Retreat Center for Fall Clergy Retreat to focus on worship, fellowship and improving leadership skills. On Wednesday, His Eminence Metropolitan Alexios gave the clergy a tour of the new Panagia Chapel so they could return to their parishes and share the good news of its progress.

His Eminence Metropolitan Alexios participates in the Seventh Annual Bishop's Assembly this week. Held in Detroit, the meeting began this morning with a celebration of the Divine Liturgy at the Antiochian Orthodox Basilica of Saint Mary. 

During the weekend Sept. 23-26, St. John the Divine in Jacksonville celebrated its 100-year anniversary. Among those present in the celebrations were His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios and His Eminence Metropolitan Alexios, many parishioners, and the families of those who founded the church 100 years ago.

While most of the Metropolis of Atlanta was celebrating the Feast Day of the Elevation of the Holy Cross, the Annunciation Church in Winston-Salem also celebrated the ordination of their deacon to the Holy Priesthood by His Eminence Metropolitan Alexios.

Hope is on the horizon for Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Baton Rouge following days of severe flooding. Fr. Anthony Monteleone and the Holy Trinity community extend many thanks for the physical, spiritual and monetary support of parishioners, local parishes, the Metropolis of Atlanta Philoptochos, the National Philoptochos and the IOCC.

After four days of rain and flooding in southeast Louisiana, the damage is staggering: Eleven people have been killed, more than 10,000 people are staying in emergency shelters, more than 20,000 have been displaced, and more than 36,000 have registered for assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
