My Beloved Faithful of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America:   Χριστὀς Ἀνέστη!  Christ is Risen! He is truly risen!   Even though I am, as the Apostle Paul once said, “absent in the body” from you, I am very much with you in heart, in mind, and in spirit (cf. I Cor. 5:3). I wanted to take this moment to communicate with you through this marvelous tool of social media, to express how much I desire to embrace all of you as spiritual children, and to manifest to you the love with which God has graced my heart for the precious flock of the Holy Archdiocese of America.

Metropolitan Alexios of Atlanta offered an interview, or rather a theological and spiritual conversation, to The National Herald explaining and meditating on the sacred events of Holy Week and the Resurrection.

On this glorious Feast of Feasts, we hear in the Gospel of those who came to see the tomb of our Lord. The myrrh-bearing woman came early in the morning of this day to anoint His body, to show their commitment to Christ through an act of love and care. They expressed concern regarding the large stone covering the door of the tomb, but as they approached there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone.... (Matthew 28:2)

The Holy Eparchial Synod of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America convened for its regular scheduled meeting in the Synodal Chamber at the Archdiocesan headquarters on April 9 and 10, under the presidency of His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America and with the participation of the Members of the Synod and deliberated on the following:

President Donald J. Trump welcomed the Greek American Community and His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America to the White House, Monday, March 18, 2019 for the annual White House Reception for Greek Independence, a 32-year-tradition. Following the remarks, the President signed the Presidential Proclamation for Greek Independence Day.

Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ, As we begin this blessed time of Holy and Great Lent, we are invited to enter into a period of intense prayer, fasting and service, so that we may draw closer to God, commune with Him, and experience His grace as we reflect on our lives, our relationship with Him, and our journey to salvation. In doing this we are challenged—challenged to face what separates us from God and His will; but we are also shown the way to overcome this separation both now and for eternity.

With the grace of God, the giver of all gifts, we have once again arrived at Holy and Great Lent, the arena of ascetical struggle, in order to purify ourselves with the Lord’s assistance through prayer, fasting and humility, as well as to prepare ourselves for a spiritual experience of the venerable Passion and the celebration of the splendid Resurrection of Christ the Savior.

Please join the Metropolis' Holy Unmercenaries Medical Society for its 3rd Annual Retreat, May 17th-19th which will be led by Dn. Dr. Stephen Muse, an Orthodox pastoral marriage counselor and family therapist.

After much careful consideration, in light of this year’s Metropolis Clergy-Laity Assembly, Philoptochos Conference, Choir Federation, & Presbyteres Meetings, the Metropolis has decided to forego our Annual Spring Presidents' Meeting. We hope that by offering this singular opportunity for planning, discussion and fellowship we shall see even greater Parish Council representation in Jacksonville, on June 25-29, 2019.

Parishes can download the forms, instructions, and manual to complete their 2020 Archdiocese Allocation Form, which will facilitate the 2020 Archdiocese Allocation process both at the Metropolis level and the Archdiocese level.

On Wednesday, February 6, 2019, His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras met at the Halki Theological School and issued a strong call for the reopening of the School, as His All-Holiness spoke of the “high symbolism” of the presence of the Greek Prime Minister.
