His Eminence Metropolitan Alexios thanks God and all participants for an engaging Metropolis of Atlanta Clergy Laity Assembly hosted by St. Nicholas Cathedral. Fr. Athanasios Haros, Nicholas Manias, & Honorable Mayor of Tarpon Springs, Costa Vatikiotis, you and your co-workers opened your hearts as you offered hospitality and support to our 350+ participants. We leave filled with joy and enthusiasm to implement insights we learned to boost our Holy Faith and its ministries throughout the eight southeastern US states with its 75 parishes under the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. Glory to God for these blessings. May He similarly bless Holy Trinity Church in Charleston, SC… the host of our 2025 assembly.

All participants of our 2023 Clergy Laity Assembly are invited to the Workshops on Friday and Saturday, June 23-24, 2023. Parishioners visiting or living in the area who wish to attend them may do so at no charge. Please be aware no food is offered without registration tickets or advance purchases.

On Wednesday April 19, 2023, a beautiful and sun-filled day that can only be described as “Xara Theou,” a longtime dream became a living reality. His Eminence, Metropolitan Alexios, of the Holy Metropolis of Atlanta officiated at the service of the Laying of the Foundation Stone for the St. Hermione Home (SHH) in Charlotte, NC.

18 junior and senior students from 7 of the 10 parishes in the Central Conference participated in the District Oratorical Festival on Saturday, April 22nd.

On Saturday, March 11, 2023 Holy Trinity Cathedral (Charlotte, NC) hosted a meeting of the Northeast Conference District Council of our Metropolis of Atlanta, made up of clergy and laity from parishes in North Carolina, and in the eastern part of Tennessee

TLAA is a one-week intensive program offering instruction in either Byzantine chant or iconography according to the tradition of the Orthodox Christian Church. Held at the Metropolis of Atlanta’s Diakonia Retreat Center in Salem, South Carolina, the Academy offers 5-6 hours of daily instruction along with matins and vespers services that continue the training for the chant students. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced classes are offered.

On February 4, 2023, His Grace Bishop Sevastianos of Zela presided over the Western Conference District Council meeting hosted by the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Pensacola, FL.

On Saturday, January 28, 2023, the First Synaxis of Hierarchs of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in the USA convened in Los Angeles, California, under the presidency of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America. The hierarchs, twelve in all, represent the Orthodox ecclesiastical eparchies under the jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, namely the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, as well as the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox and Albanian Orthodox dioceses. 

A record 3,000 participants gathered Jan. 13-16 at the Marriott Marquis in Downtown Atlanta to attend the 22nd annual Hellenic Dance Festival (HDF). The Metropolis of Atlanta-sponsored event hosted record numbers from across its Metropolis and beyond. Participants included 48 dance groups representing parishes from Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Colorado, Virginia, Illinois, Maryland, and Kansas. HDF also welcomed for the first time groups from New York and Nebraska.

The Metropolis of Atlanta hosted our Annual Winter Youth Rally December 27-30, 2022 in Atlanta, GA. 520 GOYANs and 120 advisors from 33 different parishes in the Metropolis come together in fellowship and to compete in tournaments representing their church community. A special Congratulations to Holy Trinity in Augusta, GA for taking first place in Bible Bowl!
