Our Metropolis's first-ever Deacons Retreat is scheduled for September 28th-30th, at the Diakonia Retreat Center. This Retreat is meant for both Deacons and their Proistamenoi to come together, so that each may gain the most beneficial knowledge concerning the valuable service of the Diaconate to the sacramental life of the Church.

The collapse of the Champlain Tower in Surfside, Florida is a tragedy that has saddened a nation, and the world, but nowhere more so than the community of Miami, Florida. As of this writing, upwards of 50 individuals lost their lives in the collapse, with well over a hundred men, women, and children still unaccounted for. In the midst of such a shocking event, the country has also witnessed those brave volunteers who came together to search for survivors.

As we continue to observe this year's bicentennial of Greek Independence, the Metropolis uses this historic moment to focus on a somber anniversary in the struggle for Hellenism: the Fall of the Queen City of Constantinople, on May 29th, 1453. If we look at March 25th, 1821 as the fulfillment of the 400-year struggle to regain our freedom, we commemorate the Fall of the City as a memorial to those who fell in defense of their faith and country, and even as part of an ongoing struggle to maintain religious freedom in Constantinople.

This year, now that vaccinations have made gatherings possible, our Metropolis is pleased to reintroduce our annual Pascha Picnic on Thomas Saturday, May 8th, 2021, the first Saturday after Pascha. In a spirit of gratitude for our Lady's continued loving protection, I am pleased to invite the faithful of the Metropolis to celebrate a Hierarchical Orthros (at 7:30 AM) and Divine Liturgy (8:45 AM), and then, in a procession around the lake of our Diakonia Retreat Center with the miraculous Vimatarissa Icon, so that we too can honor our Panagia, praying for all our Metropolis family.
