On the Feast of St George (April 23rd) at the Cathedral of St George in Greenville, SC the faithful beamed with pride as their Youth Director was ordained to the Holy Diaconate. Sponsored by Rev Athanasios Pistolis, Rev Theodore Ehmer, and Rev Anthanasios Haros, Deacon Zachary Thornbury was ordained by the hand of Metropolitan Alexios. Many Years to the entire family!

With great joy and brotherly love, Metropolitan Alexios welcomed Bishop Daniil to the Metropolis of Atlanta. They served together at our Cathedral in Greenville, SC for the Divine Liturgy of St George the Martyr on April 23rd.

Today His Eminence Metropolitan Alexios announced his official travel schedule for the Holy Week Services. He will be traveling to: Paracletos Monastery in Abbeville, SC; Holy Trinity Cathedral in Charlotte, NC; St. Nektarios Church in Charlotte, NC; Annunciation Church in Winston Salem, NC; Holy Trinity Church in Raleigh, NC; SS. Constantine & Helen Church in Fayetteville, NC; Holy Trinity Church in Columbia, SC; Annunciation Cathedral in Atlanta, GA and Holy Transfiguration Church in Marietta, GA.

Every year each parish of the Archdiocese is asked to submit stewardship information as part of our Archdiocese Allocation Process. Each parish is asked to complete and send in by February 13, 2017.

His Eminence Metropolitan Alexios will be traveling to each of our Metropolis Conferences during the month of March to meet with clergy, parish leaders, and parishioners. He and His Metropolis co-workers will share updates on our Metropolis ministries, including our Strategic Plan. Those present will be invited to engage in dialogue following presentations, ask questions, and exchange updates and resources to support our parishes and Metropolis ministries.

On Friday, the Orthodox Church observed Epiphany. The Metropolis of Atlanta’s St. Nicholas Cathedral commemorated the occasion with the 111th annual celebration.

Last week teens from 25 communities, their priests, chaperones and athletic coaches came together for a week full of friendly competition, worship and fun.
