It began not on a stage, but in a quiet moment during the Clergy-Laity Assembly of the Metropolis of Atlanta, held that summer in the heart of Charleston, South Carolina. This year, the Orthodox Youth Mission Team (OYMT), spent a week serving with the Appalachia Service Project in Harlan County, Kentucky. This 60-person team consisted of youth and adult leaders from five jurisdictions and 11 parishes across Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Vermont, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and New Mexico. This mission offered a unique opportunity for Orthodox high school youth to come together, and serve Christ through a meaningful and authentic mission experience. During their travels, they were blessed to once again visit Christ the Savior Greek Orthodox Church in Bluff City, TN (GOARCH).

The Grand Banquet was the inaugural event of the 2025 Clergy-Laity Assembly & Philoptochos Conference. With Archbishop Elpidophoros and Metropolitan Sevastianos addressing the faithful at the Grand Banquet in Charleston, the evening was a unique opportunity to celebrate the ministries of the Metropolis and for Christian Fellowship.

A team of 21 faithful parishioners from Saint Mark Greek Orthodox Church in Boca Raton, Florida, led by His Eminence Metropolitan Sevastianos of Atlanta, parish priest Father Mark Leondis and OCMC (Orthodox Christian Mission Center) Development Director, Dan Christopulos, recently returned from a transformational mission pilgrimage to Kenya, where they celebrated the consecration of the newly built Saint Mark Orthodox Cathedral in Kapsabet. The delegation represented nearly 800 families of the Saint Mark Church who had prayed for, funded, and spiritually supported the building of this sister church through a partnership with OCMC.

Last Friday, June 20th, the assembled Clergy-Laity Delegates participated in the election to determine the makeup of the Metropolis Council for the years 2025-2027.

The Metropolis of Atlanta Clergy-Laity Assembly, Philoptochos Conference, Southeastern Federation of Greek Orthodox Choirs and Musicians (SFGOCM) and YAL culminated with a Hierarchical Liturgy at the historical church of the Holy Trinity, Charleston, South Carolina.

The 2025 Clergy-Laity Assembly & Philoptochos Conference commenced with the Grand Banquet. Archbishop Elpidophoros and Metropolitan Sevastianos addressed attendees at the Grand Banquet in Charleston, providing a distinctive occasion to honor the Metropolis' ministries and to foster Christian fellowship.

On April 29, 2025, the inaugural meeting of the Orthodox Legal Society of Tampa Bay was held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Clearwater, Florida. The Orthodox Legal Society was formed through the Tampa Bay District Council as an idea to have legal professionals come together in fellowship to address issues they face in their profession and find ways to resolve these issues through Christ.

YAL - June 13th-14th. Come to Charleston for a Weekend of Fellowship. Friday YAL group dinner, Saturday morning YAL sessions, Saturday evening Harbor tour, and Lunch at Trinity Hall following Sunday’s Divine Liturgy.

Early registration is open until May 16th for the 2025 Atlanta Metropolis Clergy-Laity Assembly, Grand Banquet and Philoptochos Convention hosted by the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity in Charleston, South Carolina on June 11-15, 2025. Registration increases after May 16th.

St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church in Savannah, GA hosting the Metropolis of Atlanta's St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival. We had 28 speakers from our 7 districts. After a inspirational morning of listening to our youth, we took a Trolley ride around the historic city of Savannah. the St. Paul's community hosted an awards dinner and glendi for all participants and their families. We are happy to announce that Kristina (St. Nektarios Charlotte) and Anastasia (Annunciation Cathedral Atlanta) will be representing us at the National Festival May 31 in Pittsburgh, PA.

His Eminence visited Sts. Raphael, Nicholas & Irene GOC in Cumming, GA on Sunday, April 27th it was a blessing to have him lead our service with Fr. Barnabas Powell on Sunday of St. Thomas. HE also tonsured our Altar servers, AXIOS!

Christ is Risen! On Holy Friday, His Eminence Metropolitan Sevastianos visited Annunciation (Winston Salem) for the Apokathilosis service and the Lamentations service. At the lamentations he elevated me to the rank of Confessor.

On Wednesday, April 23, 2025, Saint George Greek Orthodox Church in Knoxville, Tennessee, was pleased to welcome as its honored guests His Eminence Metropolitan Sevastianos of Atlanta and the Greek Consul of Atlanta, the Honorable Konstantinos Adamopoulos, to Knoxville for meetings with federal, state, and local officials as well as to celebrate the Feast of the church’s patron saint, the Holy Great Martyr George the Trophy-Bearer.

His Eminence Metropolitan Sevastianos of Atlanta observed the beginning of Holy Week 2025, celebrating Palm Sunday with the community of St. Nektarios in Charlotte, North Carolina.
