Gus Kazakos, Chairman, Alexios Retreat Center Board, has announced a sacred and historic moment for our Holy Metropolis of Atlanta and the Alexios Retreat Center in Salem, SC.
This Friday at 2:00 p.m., His Eminence Metropolitan Sevastianos of Atlanta will offer the blessing for the elevation and installation of the Cross upon the dome of the Panagia Chapel. Clergy, members of the ARC Board, staff, and faithful friends will gather to witness this long-awaited and holy occasion. This beautiful white marble Cross, acquired over a decade ago through the vision and devotion of our beloved former Metropolitan Alexios, has been prayerfully preserved until this appointed time. Now, through the continued pastoral care and support of His Eminence Metropolitan Sevastianos, that vision comes to fulfillment as the Cross is raised to crown the sacred Chapel of the Most Holy Theotokos. The installation of the Cross is far more than a construction milestone—it is a proclamation of our faith, a sign of Christ’s enduring presence, and a beacon of hope that will shine from this holy place for generations to come.
We warmly invite all who are able to join us for this blessed moment. Kindly plan to arrive no later than 1:00 p.m. for gathering and preparation. Following the blessing and installation, we will remain together for photographs and light refreshments. We are grateful that this blessing occurs during this weekend’s Festival of Faith Retreat. It adds to the beauty of this gathering. May the Lord, Who through the Cross grants life to the world, bless all who come to witness and partake in this sacred event.
