Participants are to prepare using only the Orthodox Study Bible. Any material printed within the pages of the Gospel of Mark—from the first page of the book’s Introduction through the final footnote of Chapter 16—is eligible for questions. When studying, do not limit reading to the main Scripture text. Read every footnote at the bottom of the page, check referenced Bible verses, and highlight any mention of feast days or Church services. If it appears on any page from the introduction page of Mark to the end of Chapter 16, it can be turned into a question.
Official Test Boundaries To help teachers and students practice effectively, here is a breakdown of how different sections of the Gospel of Mark will be used to create questions:
1. Primary Text of the Gospel of Mark The entire main text of the Gospel including events, parables, miracles, locations, quotes, and names mentioned in the narrative, will be the core source for questions.
2. Footnote References If a footnote mentions another passage in the Old or New Testament (such as an Old Testament prophecy cited in Mark), the material in that reference will be open for questions.
