The Metropolis of Atlanta sponsors annual one-day conferences to learn about teaching. All are welcome! The conferences may be particularly helpful for teachers of Sunday catechism, adult religious educators, parents and grandparents, ministry leaders, and clergy. Conferences include a light breakfast, lunch, educational programming and relationship building.
The Catechist Conferences can be attended in person or online. We recommend in-person attendance for the most complete experience.
In 2026, the 4th Annual Catechist Conferences are being held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Charlotte, NC on July 25 and at Saint Mark Greek Orthodox Church in Boca Raton, FL on August 1. You can register for one or both 2026 Catechist conference here.
At the 2026 Catechist Conference in Charlotte, NC (July 25), Rev. Fr. Panayiotis Papageorgiou will speak on "Ambassadors of Christ: “Let your light shine in front of Men”" and Dr. Ann Mitsakos Bezzerides will speak about "Faith That Sticks For Life: Strategies for engaging Every Student." The 2026 Catechist Conference in Boca Raton, Fl (August 1) will feature Dr. Eve Tibbs, speaking on "Seeing the Gospels: An Interpretive Guide to Orthodox Icons" and "Teaching the 12 Great Feasts through Icons," and Fr. Anthony Salzman, presenting on "Theology in Color." Fr. Anthony's presentation will be followed by a hands-on iconography workshop.
