Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Fort Myers was blessed with a joyous and fruitful weekend on September 5th-6th as His Eminence Metropolitan Sevastianos, made his Archpastoral visit to our community.  

After receiving a loving welcome on Saturday morning by the Greeters of the Welcoming Committee in the narthex, His Eminence proceeded to a full day of scheduled meetings with all the ministry leaders, including the Men’s and Women’s Group, Sunday School, GOYA and Hope/Joy, Greek School, Stewardship, Festival Committee and Young Adults.  A delicious lunch was prepared and hosted by the Philoptochos Society, preceded by a dance demonstration by our Dance Troupe.  His Eminence enthusiastically joined the dancers in their rendition of the Kalamatiano.  His final formal meeting on Saturday was with the Parish Council, continued with a fine, relaxing meal at a local restaurant.

On Sunday His Eminence officiated the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy concelebrated with Fr. Dean Nastos, the recently retired Proistamenos, and Fr. Gustavo Alfonso, currently serving as the Interim Priest.  Four acolytes were tonsured at the conclusion of the Liturgy: the twins Nicholas and Nectarios Pastrikos, Oliver Downing, and Valentino Carvelli.  Afterwards, the parish offered a splendid lunch to honor His Eminence, and the entire community had the opportunity to meet and greet him.  

This was indeed a memorable weekend in the life of our God-protected parish.
